1Cleaning the Warped Edges and Surface
First, gently wipe the warped edge and surrounding area with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove dust, oil, and impurities. Be gentle and avoid pulling too hard, which may cause the warping to spread. If there are small particles on the edge, gently brush them with a soft brush to ensure the bonding surface is clean and free of foreign matter, laying a good foundation for subsequent repairs. After cleaning, allow the surface to dry completely to prevent residual moisture from affecting the bonding process. -
2Removing Residual Adhesive
If there is residual aged adhesive or air bubbles beneath the warped edge, use a plastic scraper at a 45-degree angle to gently scrape away any remaining adhesive. Be careful to apply even pressure to avoid damaging the mirror surface or the protective film itself. For stubborn adhesive stains, apply a small amount of specialized tape cleaner with a cotton swab. Once the adhesive softens, wipe it clean. Then wipe it dry with a dry cloth to ensure the adhesive is completely removed. -
3Reattach the Edges
Slowly lift the edge of the film where it warps to a clean, adhesive-free area. Apply a thin, even layer of specialized adhesive (or clear tape repair agent) to the adhesive side of the film where it meets the mirror surface. Gently pinch the edge with your fingers and slowly press from the starting point of the warp outward. Simultaneously, use a scraper to push from the center toward the edge to remove any bubbles and excess adhesive created during the bonding process. Ensure the edge is completely bonded, with no wrinkles or gaps. -
4Reinforcement and Maintenance
After bonding, gently press down on the repaired edge with a heavy object for a while to help the glue cure and secure the film. Avoid touching or rubbing the repaired area for 24 hours to prevent the edge from warping again. During daily use, avoid picking at the edge of the film with fingernails or hard objects. Clean gently with a soft cloth to extend the life of the repair.
