The anti-fungal performance of color steel plate protective film needs to be ensured through raw material control, process optimization and functional additives to adapt to environments that are prone to mold growth, such as humid and high-temperature conditions.

1. Raw Material Selection

  • High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or modified polyolefins are preferred. The molecular structure of these materials is tight and it is difficult for mold to attach and grow.
  • Organic mildew inhibitors (such as isothiazolinones) or inorganic mildew inhibitors (such as nano silver ions and zinc oxide) are added during production.
  • The former works by inhibiting the respiration of mold cells, and the latter uses metal ions to destroy the mold cell membrane.
  • The combination of the two can increase the anti-fungal effect to 6-12 months.

2. Process Optimization

  • The mildew inhibitor is evenly dispersed in the middle layer of the film body using multi-layer co-extrusion technology to avoid the loss of mildew-proof components due to surface wear.
  • The film surface is treated with corona treatment to increase the surface tension and reduce water vapor adsorption.
  • The moisture content of the finished product is controlled to be less than 0.1%, cutting off the moisture conditions for mold growth.
  • Some high-end products will compound a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film on the surface, using its non-stickiness to reduce the probability of mold adhesion.

3. Storage and Usage

  • The finished protective film needs to be sealed and stored in a ventilated and dry place (humidity ≤ 60%).
  • For high-humidity areas (such as the rainy season in the south), models with added ultraviolet absorbers can be selected.
  • This prevents direct sunlight from accelerating the decomposition of the anti-mold agent.
  • Ensures continuous anti-mold protection during the 3-6 month protection period after installation.
  • Prevents mold growth under the film which could contaminate the surface of the plate.
Note: The combination of material science, process engineering, and proper handling ensures optimal antifungal performance in challenging environmental conditions.
