Selection factors of aluminum protective film

2025-04-23

When selecting aluminum protective film, the following factors need to be considered:
1. Viscosity
Choose a protective film with appropriate viscosity according to the use environment and subsequent processing requirements of aluminum products. If aluminum products need to be handled, stored or transported many times during the production process, a protective film with strong viscosity should be selected to ensure that the protective film will not fall off during these processes; and for some aluminum products that need to be surface treated later, such as spraying, electroplating, etc., it is necessary to choose a protective film with moderate viscosity and easy to peel off to avoid residual glue affecting the surface treatment effect.
2. Thickness
The thickness of the protective film directly affects its protective performance. Generally speaking, for aluminum products that need to be used outdoors for a long time or are susceptible to scratches and collisions, a thicker protective film should be selected, such as a 0.15-0.3mm thick protective film, which can provide better anti-scratch and anti-impact protection; for some aluminum products that are used indoors and have high requirements for appearance, a thinner protective film, such as 0.05-0.1mm thick, can be selected, which can provide certain protection without affecting the appearance and texture of the aluminum products.
3. Weather resistance
If aluminum products are exposed to outdoor environments, the weather resistance of the protective film is very important. Choose a protective film with good UV resistance, high and low temperature resistance, waterproof and moisture-proof properties to ensure that in long-term outdoor use, the protective film will not age, discolor, or fall off due to factors such as sunlight, temperature changes, and rain erosion, thereby continuously providing protection for aluminum products.
4. Transparency
For some application scenarios that need to show the appearance of aluminum products, such as aluminum furniture, decorative materials, etc., a protective film with high transparency should be selected, which can not only protect the surface of aluminum products, but also maximize the gloss and texture of aluminum products; while for some industrial uses that do not require high transparency, such as transportation protection of aluminum parts, transparency is not the main consideration.
5. Cost
On the premise of meeting the requirements for aluminum product protection, cost is also one of the factors that need to be considered. The price of aluminum protective film of different brands and different performances varies greatly. It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on actual needs and budgets to select cost-effective products. At the same time, factors such as the service life and replacement cost of the protective film should also be considered.
